At Pouncey Tract Veterinary Hospital, you will practice progressive medicine supported by exceptional facilities. Our full-service hospital offers comprehensive services spanning Wellness & Prevention, Advanced Care, Surgical Procedures, and Urgent Care, backed by essential diagnostic tools. The facility is fully equipped with an in-house digital x-ray system, a well-stocked pharmacy, and a dedicated, in-hospital surgery suite. We also maintain a closely supervised hospitalization and intensive care area, allowing you to provide focused, high-quality care for every patient, from routine procedures to complex surgical cases.

Veterinary Assistant – Full Time

Wage: $15 – $16.75/hour (based on experience)
Pouncey Tract Veterinary Hospital is seeking a full-time experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our dedicated and collaborative team. We are proud to prioritize medical excellence and compassionate care for our patients.

🕒 Office Hours:
- Monday – Friday: 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM
- Saturday: 7:30 AM – 11:30 AM
- Schedule includes working 5 days per week, with rotating opening/closing shifts and 1–2 Saturdays per month.
✅ What We're Looking For:
We are searching for a Veterinary Assistant with a minimum of 2 years of in-hospital experience, who can thrive in a fast-paced, team-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor anesthesia and alert doctors/technicians to abnormalities
- Understand the importance of and reasoning behind vital monitoring
- Act as the “air traffic controller” of the hospital – coordinating workflow and maintaining efficiency
- Collaborate effectively with team members and support a positive workplace culture
🛠️ Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of veterinary hospital experience required
- Strong anesthesia monitoring skills
- Confident decision-making and communication abilities
- Experience with Impromed software preferred
- Passion for patient care and a team-first attitude

Your Impact as a Veterinary Assistant
- Provide Essential Patient Care: You'll be a key player in the health of our patients, assisting the medical team with hands-on care and ensuring every animal is treated with compassion and respect.
- Be the Go-To Support for the Medical Team: You'll be the backbone of the clinic, anticipating the needs of veterinarians and technicians to ensure a smooth, efficient, and collaborative workflow.
- Create a Positive Client Experience: You'll help create a seamless visit for our clients by assisting with scheduling, payments, and communications, always with a courteous and informative approach.
- Ensure a Safe and Clean Environment: You'll take pride in maintaining the hospital, performing clinic upkeep and equipment maintenance to uphold our high standards of care.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A calm and efficient approach, with the ability to handle a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment with composure.
- Confidence and skill in handling pets of all sizes and temperaments.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in fundamental veterinary skills ranging from laboratory and pharmacy to nursing and radiology is a strong asset.
