Description & Requirements

Company Overview
Arlington Animal Hospital has been a dedicated partner in pet healthcare in the Arlington community since 1938. We treat pets like our own, and we look for teammates who share that deep commitment to compassion and excellence. You will join an environment dedicated to quality, recognized by our American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) accreditation. This distinction means we regularly meet or exceed rigorous standards covering surgery, patient care, diagnostic imaging, emergency services, and anesthesiology. This commitment to superior care is reflected in our excellent 4.7-star community rating. If you are ready to put your clinical skills to use in a highly respected and established practice, we invite you to do your best work here.

You will be integrated into a stable and experienced team that includes four Associate DVMs and a dedicated Medical Director. Working alongside this group of established clinicians, you will find consistent support and opportunities to learn and refine your skill set. Our long history in Arlington ensures deep community ties and a steady, appreciative client base. We prioritize an environment where every teammate feels valued and equipped to handle the varying demands of high-quality veterinary medicine, ensuring you have the structure necessary to succeed every day.

The clinical services at Arlington Animal Hospital are comprehensive, covering wellness and preventative medicine, testing and diagnostics, and advanced care procedures. Our AAHA accreditation guarantees that you will be working with protocols that meet the highest standards for patient safety and clinical rigor, particularly in complex areas like surgical procedures, emergency care, diagnostic imaging, and anesthesiology. We provide the tools and procedures necessary for you to practice cutting-edge medicine, whether you are managing routine pet wellness or overseeing critical cases requiring advanced intervention.

Located in Arlington, Virginia, you are joining a vibrant, highly educated, and engaged community. Arlington offers a unique blend of urban sophistication and accessibility, situated immediately across the Potomac River from Washington D.C. This location provides access to world-class museums, arts, dining, and outdoor activities, ensuring a robust quality of life outside of the hospital. For veterinary professionals, working in Arlington means serving clients who are deeply invested in their pet's health and who appreciate the level of medical excellence you provide.

Join a Legacy of Compassionate Care

Arlington Animal Hospital has proudly served the Arlington community and surrounding areas since 1938. Originally located in an older building, we moved to our modern, fully-equipped facility in 2019. As an AAHA-accredited practice, we are dedicated to providing exceptional, personalized care for dogs and cats—many of whom we’ve treated across generations of pet parents.

We’re currently looking to add a full-time Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to our team of five veterinarians and a highly collaborative support staff.

🔍 What We’re Looking For:

Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)

  • Must be licensed or license-eligible in Virginia (new grads welcome!)
  • Confident in technical skills and ready to support high-quality medical care
  • Values open communication, equal treatment, and teamwork
  • Enthusiastic about client education and patient advocacy

🏥 Hospital Highlights:

  • AAHA-accredited since 2019
  • 30–40 minute appointments to allow for in-room care and strong client communication
  • Surgery performed Tuesdays & Fridays (soft tissue; orthopedics referred out)
  • Digital dental radiography on every dental
  • In-house Idexx lab equipment
  • Avimark practice software
  • Mobile diagnostic ultrasound via Butterfly Ultrasound

💼 Work Environment & Culture:

We’ve built a tight-knit, community-focused team where:

  • Everyone is treated equally and respected
  • Communication is open, honest, and constructive
  • We minimize taking pets “to the back” to prioritize in-room care and comfort
  • Longstanding client relationships are the norm—and we often see multiple generations of pet families

📆 Schedule & Benefits:

  • 4-day work week with rotating Saturdays (clinic hours listed below)
  • Same weekday off every week
  • Closed Sundays – no after-hours or on-call responsibilities
  • Competitive compensation based on experience
  • Supportive onboarding and mentorship, especially for new grads

Hospital Hours:

  • Monday: 8am – 8pm
  • Tuesday – Friday: 8am – 6pm
  • Saturday: 8am – 2pm
  • Sunday: Closed

If you’re passionate about veterinary medicine and want to work in a supportive, client-centered environment, we’d love to hear from you!

Your Impact as a Licensed Veterinary Technician

  • Be a Leader and Mentor: You’ll guide and support the medical team, ensuring an efficient workflow while mentoring others to help them grow their skills and careers.
  • Partner with Clients: You'll be a key point of contact for pet owners, educating them on treatments, reviewing medical records, and confidently answering their questions.
  • Contribute to a Positive Culture: You'll play an active role in training, providing feedback, and maintaining the high standards of our hospital environment.

What You'll Bring to the Team

  • Graduate of an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technician program.
