Willits Veterinary Hospital is looking for a Full-Time Lead Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team! Location: 351 Robinson St Suite 1014, Basalt, CO 81621 Compensation: $24-33/hr depending on experience (minimum of 2 years of veterinary assisting experience is required) $2,500 Sign-On Bonus! Accepting appications until 12/23/2025 Shifts: (4) 10 hour shifts. TheRegistered Veterinary Technician will be able to communicate effectively with team members and clients and have great attention to detail and organizational abilities. Note: The Certified Veterinary Technician title is used in the following states based on state-specific licensing and credentialing requirements: Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., Wisconsin, and Utah. Responsibilities may vary depending on the hospital and/or state. Responsibilities will be outlined by the states Veterinary Practice Act and/or the responsible veterinarian, where applicable.
Responsibilities and Benefits
- Deliver high-quality patient care under the supervision of a veterinarian (DVM), utilizing advanced technical skills across nursing, dental, surgical, radiology, and pharmacy areas. - Maintain clear, accurate, and timely documentation in patient records using appropriate terminology and formatting standards. - Review and discuss medical records, estimates, and discharge instructions with clients; respond to basic care questions and escalate complex medical concerns to the veterinarian. - Act as a shift leader, coordinating workflow, assigning tasks, and ensuring optimal staff coverage during hospital hours. - Mentor and support veterinary technicians and assistants by providing real-time coaching, onboarding support, and technical development. - Provide input on performance evaluations and help identify opportunities for team training and growth. - Support hospital leadership by communicating changes, implementing protocols, and modeling hospital values and standards. - Assist with client-facing responsibilities, including appointment scheduling, payment processing, check-ins, and courteous phone communication. - Identify gaps or inefficiencies in workflows and partner with the hospital manager to recommend and implement improvements. - Maintain and troubleshoot equipment as needed; ensure routine maintenance is performed and documented. - Oversee inventory of medical supplies and pharmacy items; communicate reorder needs and track usage. - Participate in training programs, working interviews, and cross-training efforts to maintain a highly capable team. - Support hospital cleanliness and safety by performing or delegating cleaning duties and identifying maintenance needs. - Perform other related duties as assigned within the nature and level of work. - Oversee chemotherapy program both for in-house patients and referrals. Act as Liaison between Doctors ( both staff and referring oncologists) and client. Administering Chemotherapy. Client education and scheduling. Intake and discharge of patients. Staff training of Chemotherapy protocols. Keeping track of patients in treatment and patients in remission. Inventory management and equipment maintenance. Fostering relationships with other Veterinary Clinics within the surrounding areas to market our Oncology offerings, this may include leading workshops, making calls and developing marketing materials and distribution.
