The Assistant Groomer is a key member of Mission Pet Heath hospital support team. Assistant Groomers form a crucial part of MVP, building lasting relationships with customers and providing quality care to pets. Assistant Groomers work closely with our Groomers to assist with various grooming duties necessary to improve each pet’s hygiene and enhance their physical appearance. They bathe, brush, and dry pets, clean their teeth and ears, as well as trim their nails and hair/fur.
Responsibilities and Benefits
How you'll make an impact:
- Maintain and uphold Core Values and Mission Statement of Mission Pet Health.
- Admit pets to be groomed noting owner’s specific instructions, contact information and pick up time.
- Assist the Groomer with Bathing, brushing, heavy lifting, shaving and scissor trimming of pets to be groomed.
- Assist with Ear cleaning, plucking, nail trimming, and expression of anal glands.
- Provide Assistance for medicated (when instructed) and general cleansing, parasite control baths, pedicures, medicated dips (when instructed) and ear cleansing, as required for each pet. Perform all general maintenance of grooming room and yard; clean and disinfect cages, tubs, grooming tables, and yard at least once daily; vacuum floor; mop floor; empty trash; clean clipper blades, scissors, and brushes after use; perform monthly dryer and clipper maintenance.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Basic knowledge in pet grooming & canine health.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Fluent in the written and verbal skills necessary to successfully perform the essential functions, duties, and responsibilities of the position.
- A minimum of 1 years of previous veterinary or grooming experience is required.
