Your Impact as an Urgent Care Registered Veterinary Technician
Note: The Registered Veterinary Technician title is used in various states based on state-specific licensing and credentialing requirements. Responsibilities may vary depending on the hospital and/or state and will be outlined by the state’s Veterinary Practice Act and/or the responsible veterinarian, where applicable.
- Be a Lifeline for Patients in Crisis: You'll be on the front lines, utilizing your full skillset in triage, stabilization, patient monitoring, and critical care under veterinarian supervision.
- Provide Clarity in Critical Moments: You'll be a vital and calming link for pet owners, clearly explaining treatments, reviewing discharge instructions, and providing reassurance during stressful times.
- Lead and Elevate Your Team: In a fast-paced setting, you'll guide and support your colleagues, ensuring a smooth workflow and fostering a focused, collaborative atmosphere.
- Ensure Seamless Care: Your clear and accurate record-keeping in a fast-paced environment will be crucial for patient handoffs, case management, and effective team communication.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- A calm, efficient, and decisive approach, especially during medical emergencies.
- Graduate of an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technician program and a current state license (CVT) in good standing.
- Proficiency in a range of technical skills, with a strong aptitude for emergency procedures, anesthesia monitoring, and critical care nursing.
- Confidence in handling animals of all temperaments and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and a passion for working collaboratively under pressure.
- One year of experience in a veterinary setting is preferred; urgent care or emergency experience is a plus!
Schedule & Hours (Tentative)
This position is scheduled for 35–40 hours per week and includes evening and weekend shifts as part of a shared team schedule.
Hospital Hours / Typical Shift Windows:
• Monday – Friday: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
• Saturday: 12:00 PM – 11:00 PM
• Sunday: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Our team works together to share evening and weekend coverage, helping ensure a fair and balanced schedule across the staff.
One of the perks of our schedule is that the hospital is closed on major holidays, giving our team dedicated time to relax and spend time with family and friends.
Final schedules may vary based on hospital needs, but shifts are communicated in advance whenever possible.
